Why the Aakash Tablet Failed Miserably?

When the government of India came up with the idea of giving a tablet pc to all the students on a dirt cheap price tag, there was a huge hue and cry made around the news. And as the date of the release of the tablet approached the hue and cry got even more intense. The tablet named Aakash arrived and after some time it was made available for the common public. The cost conscious public of our nation took it like hot cakes as there were hundreds of thousands of pre-orders booked. But soon after, the whole halo around the Aakash collapsed like a pack of cards. Let’s try to find out what exactly went wrong with the potentially nation changing tablet.

We have to understand that if a gadget is not performing well, the price tag is rendered redundant. The biggest drawback (read blunder) of the tablet was its resistive touch that takes it half a decade back in the time line. There can be an argument that this tablet has been devised for utility and not for the luxury; but that does not ameliorate the fact that the tablet has a painful touch experience. Anyway, going further we find that the Aakash has a 366MHz single core processor, which I would have to say, with a heavy heart, is even poorer than a middle range smart phone. The 256MB RAM is equally bad.

If we talk about the storage capacity of the tablet, it sports a 2GB onboard storage capacity and a 32 GB furtherance capacity via microSD card. That again is a weakness that is hard to overlook. The battery life also was very poor as the Aakash tablet had a Li-Ion 3200mAh battery. Then it, in the age of ICS, had the antediluvian Android 2.2 Froyo.

Students too like to get entertained, but this tablet did not support MP4 and there was no loudspeaker. The camera was also a prominent absentee. And the new gen folks were disappointed, big time, over the non existence of 3G support.

All in all Aakash is a sheer waste of money, effort, and time. A blot on the Indian think tank and on the Canadian company Datawind who happens to be the manufacturer of the disappointment, Aakash Tablet!!

LG Confirms Optimus 4X HD for India

It looks like the South Korean handset maker LG has decided to let the Indian market taste the flavor of the LG Optimus 4X HD, the magnum opus of the conglomerate. LG has confirmed the handset for the Indian market, the release will transpire in the month of May. Apart from that, the company is getting ready to release a total of around 12 mobile handsets in India this year; that is some ambition.

If we go a little into the tech spec aspect of the handset we find that how really big this news is. HP Folio 13 VS. Dell XPS 13: A Battle of the Light Weight

Here the HP wins by a small margin.

Operating System: Both the devices run Windows 7 64 bit. The only difference is that the XPS runs Home Premium and the Folio runs Professional.

Connection Ports : In the ports segment the HP folio seems to be a few steps ahead of the XPS 13 as it offers you RJ-45 (Ethernet), (1) USB 3.0, (1) USB 2.0 and (1) HDMI; headphone/microphone combo jack; power connector. Whereas the XPS 13 has only USB 3.0 (1) + USB 2.0 with Power Share (1); mini Display Port (1);Headset Jack (1). In the absence of HDMI port and SD card reader XPS seems to be lagging far behind the Folio.

Connectivity: Both the devices sport Bluetooth 3.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. so both the devices are at the same pedestal in this section.

The Pricing: The Dell XPS 13 is priced at INR 79,990 and the HP Folio 13 is priced at around 69 thousand bucks. This difference of around ten thousand rupees could play a major role in deciding the fate of the laptops; undoubtedly the Hp Folio 13 sweeps this round.

The Verdict: Both the devices are standing at almost the same pedestal as far as the tech specs are concerned but the lack of ports and the hefty price tag makes the Dell XPS 13 lose some of the vital ground to the HP Folio 13.

It offers enterprise ready features for professionals enabling them power to connect, collaborate and innovate”. According to hithe main aim of the company is to let the users feel the experience the generally the executives demand.

Here we would like to inform the readers that the XPS 13 is available in three avatars and the price range starts from INR 79,900; you can buy them from any Dell Exclusive Showroom or from their partner outlets.

At this year’s Mobile World Congress, the Finnish handset maker Nokia announced the Nokia Lumia 610, which happens to be the youngest and the cheapest member of the Lumia family. It will hit the retail shop shelves 30% cheaper than the Nokia Lumia710, which until now was the cheapest Lumia.

Nokia Lumia 900 vs HTC Titan II

If the batteries of the handsets are to be compared then the Titan II has a Standard Li-Ion 1730 mAh battery while the Nokia Lumia 900 has a standard 1830 mAh battery. No need to say that the Lumia 900 wins again.

Then comes the number of Camera, the Lumia 900 sports an 8MP rear camera which happens to be an autofocus one and has Dual LED flash. The other gadget sweeps this round with a complete land slide as it sports a massive 16 MP autofocus rear camera with Dual-LED flash. Both the handsets have 1.3 MP front cameras.

In the data segment both the handsets have EDGE, GPRS, HSDPA, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth, USB 2.0. But with features like NFC the HTC Titan II seems to have a slight edge over the 900.

Other features like sensors, social networking, Browser (HTML5), Radio, GPS, Active noise cancellation are the same in both the handsets.

Either of the handsets, at times, seems to be scoring over the other. But one thing is worth noting that Lumia 900 has the repute of Nokia to back itself and it has better quality hardware coordination.
