Symbian Anna - New Mobile OS from Nokia

Nokia has brought some refreshing changes for its customers through the launch of Nokia E6 and Nokia X7 – the two smartphones with renewed version of Symbian operating system – Symbian Anna.

Symbian Anna Highlights

New Icons
The icons are entirely different from those of the previous versions of Symbian. The oval shaped and colorful icons bring an energizing feel to the users, who are turned off with the old lousy icons on the previous Nokia device.

Split Screen View While Typing -
Symbian Anna includes a new split-screen text entry feature for filling in text fields on web pages or in apps. This allows you to see the page while typing.

Virtual Portrait QWERTY Keyboard:
Virtual QWERTY keyboard in the landscape mode is very common in touchscreen phones with previous version OS. Introduction of virtual QWERTY keyboard in the portrait mode was something not seen in Nokia phones. Symbian Anna features a portrait QWERTY keyboard (similar to that on an Android fulltouch phone), allowing users for one-handed typing.

Nokia Web Browser v7.3
The new Nokia web browser 7.3 comes with a lot of interface changes to make web browsing on your Nokia smartphone easier and more intuitive. The browser supports international domain names and multiple languages including Arabic and Chinese. Always visible, “Go back” button, extended toolbar buttons, and search integrated address fields are some notable improvements on the browser.

Enhanced Ovi Maps
The enhancements have made the search simpler and quicker. The new Ovi Maps provides new public transportation routes, check-in to Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare or local social networks, place sharing options via SMS, even with friends using non-Nokia phones etc. Also you can update and download full country maps through Wi-Fi.

Enhanced Business Features
The update has brought some great feature enhancements for business users. It includes instant messaging with Microsoft Communicator Mobile, email enhancements including full meeting request support, true business grade security with hardware accelerated encryption, and easy and secure intranet access for people who want to get on their company intranet.

Enhanced Social Features
The updated OS has brought so many interesting features to those who get hooked to social networks throughout the day. Some of the enhancements include status updates in contact card, ability to retweet and view the follower list in Twitter, higher resolution image uploads, and ability to add caption to images.
