CES 2012: Quad-core in limelight

The fastest mobile processor race has attained new heights with the quad-core processor. Some of the major benefits of quad-core processor in smartphone are:

1.    Faster multi-tasking with 4 cores, each core running at about 2.5GHz speed.
2.    Less power consumption.
3.    Better video processing. Device can record and play videos at higher FPS
4.    Will include the latest GPU empowering device to display 3D video. One can play games upto 60FPS. 

Fujitsu showcased a quad-core Android smartphone running on Ice Cream Sandwich at CES. The phone is currently just a prototype. It will run on the quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor.

Acer has also created buzz at the CES 2012 about its Iconia Tab A700, which has quad core processor.

HTC will roll its HTC Edge with NVIDIA’s new Tegra 3 quad-core processors.

Samsung is also planning to launch it Samsung Galaxy S III with quad-core processor.
