Sony Xperia P: Tech Specs and First Impression

All the above mentioned specsare class acts but the phone has some follies that could jeopardize its marketfaring: the phone has got a fixed battery that users can not get rid of. Thenit still runs on the Gingerbread OS. The handset has a big storage capacity nodoubt, but if there was an expansion capacity, it would have added glitter toglory.

Yes, there are some high pointsand there are some low ones, but if I have to give a verdict I would say thatthe Sony Xperia P is a gem and you should not miss it. It has got all mysincere recommendations.

On one hand we have the kingpin of smartphones the iPhone 4S, which, without doubt, is the best handset in the world right now, and on the other hand we have the handset, which has got all the potential to dethrone the ruler, yes, the soon to be released Samsung Galaxy S III. We are going to compare both the handsets one against another. Spicy proposition.

Let’s commence the comparison with hardware section, first the CPU and RAM. The SIII sports a Dual core 1.4 GHz Cortex A9 processor, which is seconded by a 1GB RAM. On the other hand we have the iPhone 4S that has 1GHz dual core Cortex A9 processor, well complimented by a 512MB RAM. This might seem to be a lop sided affair but one should not forget that Apple has a magical power to perform stupendously with a relatively lower spec sheet. This round goes to the Galaxy SIII, marginally though.

Next comes the segment of storage in which both the handsets come in three versions: 16/32/64 GB, but what gives the Samsung Galaxy SIII the upper hand is its capability to incorporate 64GB microSD card. Moving forward, in the display section the Galaxy SIII has a 4.8inch Super AMOLED touch screen, which has a pixel resolution of 720x1280, the screen has support for over 16m colors. The Apple iPhone 4S has a Apple trademark 3.5 inch screen, which has a resolution of 640x960p and has support for over 16m colors. Again the SIII seems to be having a slight edge over the Apple.

The Samsung handset has a 2100mAh Li-ion battery whereas its Apple counterpart has 1442mAh Li-Po battery that gives you a mammoth talk time of 14 hours over the 2G and 8 hours over 3G. I would call this round a tie. Now in the camera section  the SIII sports a 8MP rear and 1.9MP front cam, the other gadget in question has an 8MP rear and A VGA one on the front side. A tie once again.

In the OS segment the SIII offers the latest and the best Android ICS whereas the iPhone sports the iOS 5 and is upgradable to iOS 5.1. No matter how good the ICS is nothing can match the iOS 5(apart from 5.1).

As far as the features are concerned both the handsets have something novel in their kitty. As the verdict time has come I shall have to say, with a heavy heart, it is time for iphone 4S to abdicate the top spot for a better candidate.           

Samsung Galaxy S Advance and Samsung Galaxy S Plus – A Comparison

Samsung has recently launched Samsung Galaxy S Advance Android phone. Though this phone is much similar to the Galaxy S Plus, some of the differences make the former a really “advance” phone.  Galaxy S Advance wins over S Plus, when you consider features like thickness, number of processor cores, RAM etc. However Galaxy S Plus is the winner, when it comes to the battery capacity and weight.

Nokia’s Latest Attempt at the Budget Phone Section: Asha 202

The Finnish giant Nokia, after failing to grab the numero uno spot in the high end smartphone section, seems to be pretty desperate towards not letting the ground slide as far as its hold on the medium range handsets is concerned. And why not, the middle range phone has been the forte for the company; if not anywhere else, it is true in India at the very least.

Nokia’s latest attempt at the above mentioned endeavor is the Nokia Asha 202. This phone seems to sporting all the required ingredients to make it a major item in its segment. Since it is a middle range handset, so I would like to mention the price of the handset before going into any kind of details; the price of the phone, friends, is INR 4,149. Now, let us start a tech spec evaluation of the handset.

The Nokia Asha 202 happens to be a dual SIM handset with dual SIM easy swap technology, which allows the users to personalize their respective phones. The Asha has a dedicated SIM manager that allows you to store five times more data than a single SIM.

The handset sports a 2.4 inch resistive touch screen, there is 2MP camera on the rear side of the phone.  This phone has a memory expansion capacity of up to 32 GB via microSD card. Then there is FM radio and Bluetooth. And for the chatty folks it has a chat client Nimbuzz.

It has GPRS, EDGE and USB connectivity, the Asha lacks in the Wi-Fi front. In the battery section the Nokia Asha 202 offers you a strong 1020mAh battery, which gives the users a talk time of around 5 hours in addition to a humongous standby time of 400 hours and a music play time of 25 hours.

These many features with the price tag seem to be quite sufficient to portray a bright future for the handset.

Indian handset maker Micromax has taken veils off the “iPhone like” handset of its own, which is attributed the name of Ninja, yes, Micromax A50 Superphone Ninja. Yes, the handset sports a voice driven app which is called AISHA(Artificial Intelligence Speech Handset Assistant), it does what SIRI does for the iPhone, works on a voice command. Folks, I know this comparison is a little superfluous, but hey, to come up with a handset which works on voice command is, for an Indian company, a massive achievement in itself. Let us explore the handset inside out.   

Before divulging into the handset’s corporal details, I must mention the price of the gadget that will help you in making up your mind about what this all new handset is all about; the price of the handset is INR 4999. And at that low a price the Ninja offers you Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread operating system. In the processor segment the Ninja has 650MHz chip, which is seconded by a 256MB RAM. The handset has a memory expansion capacity of up to 32GB via microSd card.

If we talk about the dimension of the phone it has 113 x 61 x 13 mm of dimension and the TFT LCD screen of the mobile is 3.1 inches which supports 65K colors. Moving towards the camera specification of the handset, it has got a 2 MP camera on the posterior which can record you videos too. Unfortunately there is no front camera on offer.

The handset offers a 1200mAh battery, which happens to be the same specification that the Samsung Galaxy Y sports.

For the Internet fanatics the Ninja has an Android Browser in addition to the built in Google search. There is WAP 2.0 protocol. The other built in apps include: Document Editor, Ibibo, Saavn, Anitivirus, Google Talk, Google Search, YouTube, Android Market, MApps, Gmail, Google Maps, SNS integration.
